Thanks for visiting... I thought you'd like to know a bit about me and my art. I was born and raised on a farm in Southern Wisconsin. I learned to sew while in grade school. I even inherited the original sewing machine I learned to sew on - a 1957 Singer 401A - and it still works great! I use it as my backup machine when my computerized Elna sewing machine is in the shop. In 1978 I received an Associates Degree in Home Furnishings. 20 years later , in1998 I received another Associates Degree, this time in Computer Programming. In 2001my family moved from the big city to the rural life. We sold veggies at a local Farmers Market and got back to our rural roots. It was at that point I became friends with a fellow marketer who did craft shows. In 2004 she let me sell some Stamped Cards I had been working on at her booth. Needless to say, I didn't sell a single one. But I fell in love with the craft show environment and knew that's where I should be on most Saturdays (and some Sundays). "Sewing In Circles" was born in March 2005. For years I was looking for a way to release that creative gene I inherited. Now I think I've found my niche. I still work on little projects here and there but my bowls are priority. I'm always discovering new techniques to enhance my craft. My most recent discovery is designing new shapes of bowls. I use high quality quilting fabric. When sewing the bowls I double stitch seams that intersect. I also do my own quality checks - making sure threads are clipped, etc. I think it's in the details that makes my bowls something I can be proud of and something you can have fun with and enjoy for a long time! Thanks again for your support and interest. Rose |
